Welcome to the 52nd Annual Phippen Museum Western Show & Sale – over Memorial Day Weekend May 23-25, 2026.
The Frame & I owner Russell Johnson brings his signature blend of craftsmanship and creativity to downtown Prescott once again as he will participate in the annual Phippen Museum Western Art Show & Sale, a Memorial Day weekend tradition that transforms the Courthouse Plaza into a vibrant celebration of Western heritage.
Russell—well known locally not only as a master framer but also as a skilled fine artist—showcasing original works that highlight his deep connection to the landscapes, stories, and splendor of the American West. This art show draws steady crowds throughout the weekend, with visitors stopping to admire Russell’s impressionistic compositions, ask questions about his process, and learn how his decades of experience oil painting has influence his artistic eye.
For many Prescott locals, Russell’s presence at the show feels like a natural fit. The Frame & I has long been a creative anchor in the community, and his participation adds a personal, hometown touch to an event that already thrives on authenticity and artistic passion. Whether attendees came to collect, browse, or simply enjoy the atmosphere, Russell’s work offered a fresh yet grounded perspective—one shaped by years of elevating other artists’ creations and now celebrated for his own.
As the Phippen Museum Western Art Show continues to honor the legacy of Western art, artists like Russell Johnson help ensure that the tradition remains both rooted and evolving, carrying Prescott’s artistic spirit forward with every brushstroke.
Be sure not to miss the Quick Draw event on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. Russell, along with 20 plus artists, will be given one hour to complete a painting. Paintings will then be framed and offered in a live auction to benefit the Phippen Museum.
