What could be more Prescott than Prescott Brewing Company? They’ve been brewing suds in downtown Prescott since 1994. It’s hard to remember a time when they weren’t there with fabulous food and drink for all.
So why are we writing about them here on our picture frame shop blog in Prescott?
This original beer can art was custom framed for the Prescott Brewing Company!
Gorgeous, vibrant acrylic painting of a hummingbird is colorful and appealing all on its own, but if you look closely you can see it has feathers made out of circles cut from beer cans! And not just any beer cans, people. It’s Prescott Brewing Company beer cans. That makes this art one of a kind and Very, Very Prescott-y.
We thought it would look great in an aluminum frame with splices of the same beer cans on it. So our award winning Design Star framer, Francine Hackerott, cut out pieces of beer cans (we’re not telling how we got the empties) and inlaid them onto the raw aluminum. This is the result.
The owner of Prescott Brewing Company found this artwork at an outdoor art sale. He said that a tiny live hummingbird was obsessed by this painting and buzzed around it for several hours before flying away.
One thing you can’t see is the crystal clear Artglass Museum protecting the piece! Its low reflective qualities make it virtually disappear at some angles. Though oil and acrylic paintings don’t always need glass on them, this one in a high traffic restaurant needs some extra protection from dirt and airborne pollutants, as well as people’s curious touches.
