A beautiful custom display case for ballet slippers, made right here at The Frame & I, is a sweet display for a little girls’ room!
An expectant mommy brought this project to us recently. Her little girl is due soon, and she is lining her nest in preparation for baby’s arrival. These ballet slippers fit the space perfectly, but she needed some help getting them displayed attractively. The soft fabric attracts dust and dirt, so a cover was important; but a standard shadowbox wouldn’t have worked because she wanted to display them on a table top. The solution is to use a custom made acrylic showcase. We had a clear rod put into the case to tie the slipper laces to, then created a feminine base out of silvery picture frame molding. The shoes were tied to the rod at various heights to display them best. The finished piece really has the look of a dance studio, with the rod and the clear reflective surfaces of the case. It’s elegant and feminine at the same time! The shoes are all signed by the ballerinas who wore them. This was a super fun project to do! It has the feeling of lightness and dancing that we wanted to preserve. Can’t wait to see how it looks when the nursery is all set up.
